They were driving to Riley's house. Ever since they'd ditched their last period class, they'd spent the day together. And it was almost nine o'clock. They'd been out for a while. He'd never spent that much time outside before. It was unique to him.
He glanced at Riley out of the corner of his eye before focusing back on the road. Yes, Riley was cute. And funny. And nice. But he didn't know what he felt for her. He loved her like a sister, but could it be something more? He just didn't know.
Finally, Riley's street came into view. He turned onto the street before driving and stopping in from of her house. He stopped the car and decided to walk her to her front door. So, he took his keys out of the ignition and opened his door, saying, "Well, here we are."

He followed her up to her front door. He noticed how her house was dark. Her mother mostly likely was asleep this early. A lot of people were.
He smiled. A small, shy smile. "I had a lot of fun today. I haven't had a day like that in a long time. Your welcome. But you made it more fun. Trust me." He never noticed how he usually had to look only slightly down at her. She was close to his height, and he was pretty tall.
Just staring at her, he couldn't help it. He was...feeling something. But before he knew it, he was leaning forward, and he didn't seem to be able to stop himself. Or he couldn't.

He closed his eyes for a second, letting the kiss deepend. He could feel her arms wrap around his neck, and he felt himself loosing his mind as the kiss deepend.
But he felt something tugging at his mind. Doubt. He didn't know if this was right. If this was even supposed to happen. Come on, it was his best friend. He loved Riley like a little sister. It just seemed different to him. He just, was mixed up with his emotions.
Opening his eyes he pulled away, taking a step back so that her arms would fall from his neck. Not looking her in the eye, he scratched the back of his head awkwardly, saying, "Ril...I'm sorry, but I can't do this..." And with that, he turned around and sort of slowly walked to his car.

He deliberately went slowly, finally reaching his car. He opened the door to the driver's side, and got in. But he didn't drive away. Just yet. He leaned back, his hands covering his face. He didn't know what happened. He just...froze up. He didn't know if it was right. It just didn't seem right to him. Riley, his best friend, the girl he considered a sister. Somehow it was like they were supposed to be together, and yet they were not supposed to. It was just...complication.
He started driving toward his house, which wasn't that far away from Riley's. In fact, just a few blocks away. So pretty soon, he was out of the car and in his bedroom before he knew it. He didn't even stop to wonder how he got into his house. All he knew was one minute he was in his car, the next his room. He threw himself down on the bed, kicking his shoes off sort of angry at himself. He leaned his head back agianst the pillows, staring at the ceiling, before covering his face with his hands. Oh, what had he just screwed up?

Closing his eyes, he kept replying that kiss in his mind. And the more they did, the more he felt like he'd just made the stupidest mistake of his life. And he felt like that a lot. Like a stupid kid who screwed up his life. And this time, he had to admit it, his mother was right. He did screw up things were were going well for him.
He picked up his cell phone, ready to dial Riley's number and call. But she probably wouldn't talk to him. So he did the next best thing; texting So with that, he starting typing out his message.
'Ril, i'm really sry that I just left u like that. If u do get this, will u text me back? or call me? please, i just really need to talk to you.'

For a while, he had had his eyes closed, and was slowly drifting off to a light, troubled sleep. That night would not be easy to get through. But his eyes shot open as his cell beeped. Grabbing it, he quickly read the message Riley had sent him, sending guilt throughout him. He took a deep breath before starting to type out a reply.
'Ril, it's not that I don't love you....it's just....I'm just....confused. Everything's just happening so fast...so many things, in fact....i just don't know how to deal with all this, you know?'
He hesitating, taking a deep breath again before hitting send. He put his head back into his pillows, staring up at the ceiling.

He closed his eyes once more. Right now, he just didn't seem to be able to keep them open. He felt like sleeping was sort of taking away the guilt temporarily. His cell beeping brought him out of it. He looked at the message, a little hesitant on what to do. BUt he decided.
Quickly, he dialed Riley's number, waiting for her to pick up.

Hearing her voice, he just bit his bottom lip, not saying anything for a minute. But he took a deep breath and said, "Hey, Ril. Listen, I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to run off on you like that. Am I allowed to explain, or shall I wait till after you slap me tomorrow to explain?" He was trying to see is he could lighten up the mood. He hoped it'd work.
