The Dance Committee of West County High had put a lot of work into this year Masquerade Ball. They had gotten out of class Thursday and Friday to decorate the Gym, and a magnificent job they did. The normally white walls were draped with black Fabric to give the room a darker look. A Lighter Black fabric had been draped from the Ceiling, and white twinkling lights had been place in between the fabric and the ceiling, to give it an elegant look. A few potted trees sat here and there, and the same black fabric with lights went around the perimeter of the gym. It truly looked beautiful.
There were a few Black and White balloons here and there on the floor, but most of them where in the air. There were a dozen or so small tables with a black table cloth, and one single candle on each table, surrounded by a wreath of roses. There were four to six chairs to each table. The DJ had already sat up his booth, and now a nice, slow melodic song was playing, waiting to greet the arriving guest. A few teachers lingered in the back; watching and waiting, ready to make sure people behaved themselves like proper teens should. This dance promised to be very quaint and fun. There were already a few guests in attendance, and it appeared that the Masquerade had worked; the teachers couldn’t identify who they were. It appeared this would be a night of Dancing, Fun, and Mystery….

Riley walked into the gym without anyone with her. She looked around and her mouth dropped at the sight of how beautiful the gym looked for this dance. Riley had been excited for tonight. This was the night where she would see all her friends, wish made her supper excited.
Riley had bought a beautiful pale green dress, along with a green and gold mask. She had put her hair up in a eligant bun type of due with curls coming out of it. Her bangs were sweeping to the side of her face, and her makeup made her look sweet and eligant.
Riley took a seat at one of the tables, as she waited for her best friend Alliey to arrive...

Summer straighten the mask that sat on her nose before turning off her Ford Taurus. Most people would have hated to show up to the biggest event so far of the year, but not Summer. She stepped out of her car, and carefully placed her high heel on the pavement. She normally didn’t walk in high heels, so tonight was going to be different. After adjusting her dress, she made her way to the doors. She looked down at her dress, hoping that other people saw it differently than she did. She was afraid that it looked a little trampy, since it cut down extremely low.
She had finally reached the doors, with a deep breath, she opened the left door, and made her way into the Hallways, and then to the doors of the gym. As she opened the door, she took in a gasp of air. The Gym didn’t look like a gym at all. It was as if they had been transferred into a quaint little party hall or something. Maybe even a fancy-shamcy restaurant that had dancing. She glanced around to see Boone, but then she remembered that everyone was wearing masks, she wouldn’t notice him right off the bat.
She found an empty table, and sat down. Sitting her purse on the table beside her, She glanced around again. There were so many unique masks! She saw several with feathers, some with ribbons, and loads that looked like bird masks. She didn’t recognize anyone at all. It was amazing how covering up part of your face could hide who you really were. She wondered if Boone would be able to recognize her. If not, It would be a very interesting night.

Boone was dressed in a ridiculous outfit. That’s what he got for trusting Courtney to fix it up for him, and to actually get a camera. She was taking pictures of him ever since he got dressed…. Maybe even when he was getting dressed who knew? There was a bow around his neck, but he wasn’t exactly sure where that went… It looked like a tie like thing, or a head band…. So he just wore it around his neck. He was terrified at the thought of putting it anywhere else, just in case he could look any stupider then he was. Checkered pants, yellow shirt, black jacket, big shoes, and a freakin’ bow. And to top it all off a mask that matches the bow.
Walking out of the car, where the girl was snapping pictures at her he nodded his good bye to them and walked off. Taking his time to walk around the parking lot just in case he happens to run into his friends. After a while, spotting a few he took out his mask and put it on. The feathers flopping left and right, some were getting in his nose. Every once and a while he would attempt to brush them away, but it would move in the gentle breeze. It was rather hard to get a hold of it.
After walking around a few cars, and avoiding the people who might recognize his hair he was inside the school. Attempting to hide, behind anything really. After a while he got comfortable of people ignoring him and trying to find the people they were going to meet with he walked as casually as possible to the gym. He was feeling sort of embarrassed just being around here. He never came to school events. He really didn’t go anywhere. The farthest he went was to the mall once. And that was just to get a new video game that was coming out.
Finally, he found the entrance and opened it. The gym looked wonderfully, yet if you walked toward the corners you can still smell the sweaty kids and where they took a break. It gave him a nauseous feeling. But he wasn’t sure if that was because he was going to dance with one of the best looking girl in the school, or if it was the smell that was coming out of the corner.
He looked around for a few moments, expecting to see her dancing with some random person. She was probably was hyper as usual and was looking for a friend to dance with. Maybe… Or maybe she did decide she didn’t want to actually go with Boone and wanted to hang out at home hanging out with her other friends. He made his way to a random table where some girl was sitting. Brown hair, but he doubted that was her. She really didn’t seem the type to wear cloths like that. “Excuse me, is this seat taken mate?†Boone asked, his accent not so audible with the music covering up most of his voice. He wasn’t very loud to begin with.

Alliey spent the better part of the day in her toy-covered bedroom and extremely small bathroom, trying extremely hard to concentrate on getting dressed for the Masquerade despite the toys that covered every square inch of floor space and the screams of her young siblings. Alliey didn't usually get excited about dances and such, but tonight was a complete exception. She had gotten a dress that slightly resembled something that guests attending the ball in Cinderella would have worn. She wasn't one to get excited for such things, but tonight, she couldn't help it.
Tonight was going to be a great night; She could feel it in her bones. First, Lauren agreed to let her borrow her Durango for the ball. Lauren never let anyone even touch her Durango; Alliey's dad had yet to drive it. Sometimes it felt as if Lauren loved that car more then she loved her two children. Alliey was truly surprised when Lauren told her she could drive it. True, Alliey's hand-me-down car was in the shop at the moment, but she had assumed Lauren would say "No Way. Get a ride with one of your friends." when she asked. Instead, she had gotten "Sure, Alliey. You've been great with watching the kids. You have fun." Alliey felt like her stepmother had been replaced with aliens from planet nice, but didn't press the matter. She knew to stop when she got what she wanted.
Alliey parked Lauren's Durango in the school parking lot and took the keys out of the ignition. Making sure to put on her gold mask before she got out of the car. Even though her bright orange hair was sure to give away her identity, she didn't want to make it any easier for people to figure out who she was. Trying extremely hard not to trip and fall while wearing her high-heeled sandals(another article of clothing that she never wore), she made her way over to the school gym.
Alliey marveled at how wonderful the gym looked. It was hard to believe that the place she was now standing in was the place where she had gym class once a week. Alliey looked around for Riley. Riley had showed Alliey her dress and mask a few hours before so Alliey could find her easily in the crowd of masked faces and ball gowns. Alliey spotted the light green dress that Riley was wearing after a few minutes of searching through the crowds. She picked up the bottom of her dark red dress in an attempt to make it easier to walk, and glided slowly towards where Riley was sitting.
"Hey Ry!" Alliey said once she was standing next to Riley's seat.[/color]

Sadie stared at herself in the mirror as she put the final touches on her outfit. She looked good, from her blond hair that was in almost ringlets in a pile on top of her head, to the green shaded dress she wore, to the matching golden heels. Only one final touch to make it perfect. Grabbing the mask Jasper had given her she placed it over her eyes. It had suprisingly went perfectly with her outfit and she smiled, tonight would be perfect.
She had been long awaiting this night, it was so perfect for her and Jasper. They could be together without the worry of who saw them. Sadie knew exactly which person Jasper would be because she knew his mask. Besides, they planned to meet outside the school. Now she took one final look at herself and grabbed Sam. Sam had his own green tux on that looked perfect with Sadie's dress. He was her date for the night, or so everyone but Hope, and of course Jasper thought.
After walking down her steps and enduring her parents oohing and awwwing over how cute she looked and taking pictures of her and Sam a horn honked. That was Jamie who she was riding with. Walking outside she about dropped Sam, Jamie had somehow managed to get his dad's mustang convertible for the dance. "Holy Shit!" She gasped before hopping in. Jamie just smiled in his green suit since he'd be taking over as Sam's date when Sadie got her Jasper.
Reaching the school they got out and stood at the doors of the gym, Jasper had to be there soon. Sadie told Jamie that he and Sam should go have fun while she waitied, she didn't want to bore Jamie if Jasper didn't show up. Leaning against a wall she watched the others go by looking for the mask that matched hers.

With his hair tucked neatly beneath a blond wig - which had been combed back into a ponytail - and his face hidden by the golden bird mask, Ches made his way toward the gym. For once he was excited to attend one of the social gatherings at school. This was one occasion where he didn't have to worry about the others. Everyone would be wearing masks, their identities hidden from the world. And he for one was determined to make the most of it. Maybe even ask one of the girls for a dance? Who knew what could happen tonight? He was feeling unusually brave this evening. Tonight... Yes, tonight was his night.
After halting to briefly check up on his mask one last time Chesney opened the door and entered the hall, smiling at the people he met as he made his way across the room.

Summer watched as couples poured in. This dance was a bigger success than she had first believed it would be. She watched as people tried to find one another. She gave a half smile as the first couple started to dance out on the floor, it appeared as if the dance had started. She dug through her purse and located her cell phone. 6:10. she wondered where Boone was, and how she was supposed to find him when he got here. The two hadn’t told one another what they were wearing, or what their mask looked at. How foolish they had been!!! She scrolled down to Boone’s cell phone, and was about to call, but then she talked herself out of it. She didn’t want to bug him if he had changed his mind. She was actually extremely surprised that Boone had agreed to go with her; he wasn’t one to go to school functions like this. It was simply out of his character.
She put her phone back into her purse as a guy in a mask approached her. She shook her head no, “NO.” She said over the Music “THERE ARE PLENTY OF SEATS AT THIS TABLE. I AM JUST WAITING FOR MY DATE TO ARRIVE.” She glanced at the guy, trying to figure out who it was, but these mask were working wonders. This guy was quite amusing; he was probably the Jock who was the jokester or something because he was wearing checkered pants, a yellow shirt with a black jacket, along with a bow that matched his mask. Infact, the outfit looked rather good together. She gave a small smile to the stranger and then looked around the room again. She figured that Audrey was going to be easy to spot, since she always had to be different.
Quickly giving up she turned back to the other person who occupied the table with her. “SO, ARE YOU ENJOYING YOUR~” She stopped, the music had paused momentarily “-Self so far?” She asked in a normal tone as a slower, quieter song came on. She took a sip of the bottled water she had brought from home. Sure, the dance had Two tables dedicated to food an refreshments, but the food was Ham, Turkey, and Bologna sandwiches, She didn’t eat meat, then they had chips, but chips got everywhere, and everything would show up on the black dress she was wearing, That’s why she stuck with her water. She looked back at the guy. “So…You are you here with?”

Boone mentally shrugged, this girl was pretty damn loud and he wasn’t sure if she was potentially mad. It didn’t matter, Summer was pretty mad herself and he concluded she was harmless. Taking a seat, about two seats away from the girl, he began adjusting the mask. It was annoying him beyond belief. The girl yelled something and that caused him to almost poke his eye out. He took a minuet to take in the question, and thought about it. Was he? Really? Nope not at all. This place is too noisy and filled with people he dislikes.
“Not really.†He finally said, “How about yourself?†It was good he had someone to talk to before Summer showed up. He really wasn’t in the mood to be by himself. Especially when he was this self conscious. Maybe if he was talking to someone there will be an illusion he was better dressed. If he was that lucky, which he wasn’t so it was probably a waste of time. “No one you would know.†Boone said, examining her dress. It’s a bit too un-Summer. Wouldn’t she be wearing bright colors unlike others? Maybe bright yellow or something of the sort. Who knew really? Maybe she decided to bail.
“What about you?†Boone asked, scanning the gym. Everything came out pretty good, except that corner in which death’s cold clammy hands is waiting to pull someone in by the nostrils. “Or are you meeting a friend? If you are you dressed up pretty fancy.†He continued, sounding dull of course. He tapped his fingers repeatedly on the table, checking his watch every five seconds. It must have gotten annoying, but it was a habit. He wasn’t feeling particularly happy today either. [Sorry if it’s crappy.]

Riley had been sitting down waving and smiling to people she knew as they walked by. Everyone looked amazing. It was funny to Riley how, even with masks on, she still knew who everyone was.
When she heard Alliey say hi, she turned and smiled. Alliey had sat down right across from Riley, but Riley got up, and took Allieys hand pulling her out of her seat. "Spin" Riley said smiling. "You look so pretty! And oh my god, your hair looks beautiful!" Riley said putting her hands over her mouth. She had never seen Alliey dolled up as much as she was for this dance.
Riley sat down again. "Oh my god. My hair took forever to do. Curling my straight hair was hard!" Riley said laughing.

Jasper climbed out of his rusty red truck. Yes, he was officially late. Securing his mask on his face, he stuck his hands in his pants pockets and took off towards the school. Tonight had been perfectly planned, Sadie and he had lucked out, the dance committee had decided to have Masquerade Ball, where everyone would be wearing a mask, and since Jasper and Sadie couldn’t be seen in public together, this was perfect. Jasper had even went as far as to talk about how he was leaving for the night to stay with his Grandmother, that way people would think he was gone, AND he had decided to use his Italian accent, to fool people. Yes, this had been planned out.
Jasper watched as people walked in. As he made his way over to the door he looked around for Sadie, not seeing her. Then he spotted her, she was turned away from him. He gave a grin and walked up behind her, leaning over he whispered in her ear, “You look Stunning Love.” He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close to him, then kissed the top of her head. [Sorry Its short Love]

"Hey love." Sadie said with a smile as he wrapped his arms around her. His accent made him seem all the more sexy tonight. It was too perfect, with Sadie's reputation it seemed right for her to hook up with a random guy from a different country. It actually wouldn't have been the first time that happened. There was those many times when her and Jamie backpacked through Europe.
"Shall we?" She asked gesturing towards the inside of the school. "We lucked out so much." She whispered into his ear before kissing his cheek.
